Time and time again, we see trivial as well as lesser ones creating a havoc in the lives of others, especially if they have anything to do with the religion of ISLAM.

The controversies have been going on for ages, and one feels they should have led us to a meaningful direction which might have further led us to the solution of these problems. But they have only led us deeper into a maze of problems, which now have resulted all of them overlapping each other and creating a huge puddle for us all to struggle in. Why do Islamists have an idea from somewhere that they are special and that they have the right to do whatever they feel like as long the excuse of it being in the interest of the religion of Islam is provided. Why should any person be allowed to have more than one wife in India if he is an islamic, while the others are governed by the general law of the land which prohibits marriage during the tenure of another one? This is where the Islamists are governed by Muslim law and are allowed to do so by the government, just because they fear a backlash from the entire community. Even today we hear Islamists complaining about how India has never accepted them as part of the nation due to their religion, yet when it comes to following the law, they want to be under the secure umbrella of the Muslim Law which allows certain privileges to only Islamists. 

If we ARE indeed a democracy, then i would assume from the meaning of the term that everyone is under the common law as well, but if extremist Islamics want to have both sides of the pie, and enjoy certain privileges
because their religion, they just plain and simply need to stop having these fantasies of being treated exceptionally, only for a certain section of the originally peace preaching religion to cause havoc and chaos in the lives of everyone, starting from the women in their families itself. Some islamists seem to have taken it for granted that whatever principles they are taught in under the shade of religious preachings are unquestionable, they just love to blindly believe in it. But off course they do not like to restrict this lack of vision to them selves, they want the entire world to agree with them, the refusal of which leads them to claim a cospiracy against the religion itself by the world. If the islamic  women themselves  try to object to the oppresion themselves, then they are taken care of, because bulk of the women are not educated in the first place to be able to have a mind of their own; a ply very effectively used by the Brahmins of India in the olden times which served as a perfect means to reduce the status of a woman to being only a daughter, a wife and a mother. An object that is only useful in bed and the kitchen. The same principle of the insignificance of women is very useful to the extreme minded islamics who were extremely chuffed at a woman of all people daring to write against the virtues practised in the name of islam. The islamics will only have one excuse-that it has hurt there religious sentiments, but not for once will they sit down and think about the amount of pain this very religious idiosyncratic set sentiments have caused to individuals in their own houses and families. They choose instead to be bull headed and create a havoc against the one Lady-Taslima Nasreen, for whom my respect knows no bounds, and disrupt the lives of an entire city in the process.

Encouragement of this kind to do whatever they feel like, has led us into a far bigger problem. It has given the extremist Islamists the idea that they are the last word in a lot of issues which surround them as long as they have the lie of it adhering to religious beliefs close at hand. Somehow, they seem to have got the idea that they can issue Fatwas against whoever they want to and whenever theyw want, irrelevant to the context in which the situation itself lies. A recent debate over Sania Mirza wearing a skirt while playing tennis certainly crossed all borders when the maulvis issued a fatwa against her, despite the relevant fact that she needed to do so, in order to move about on the court freely. Then off course was the effigy burning drama, where thermocol dolls of her were burnt, just because some magazine quoted here saying that she didn't think there was anything wrong with pre-marital sex. This fiasco obviously made her retract back from her statement as she issued a fresher one saying how much she feared ALLAH who would condemn her if she ever committed a heneous crime such as pre-marital sex. Most of the young Islamic girls are married off to some one at a young age of 15-18 and then they are oppressed throughout their lives with rule after rule being laid down upon them. The excuse - it is ALLAH's preaching that women are meant to stay at home and wear a veil when they go out of the house in order to not attract prying eyes of other men. But it seems it will never be considered wrong for the man look at her with flesh hungry eyes in the first place, because after all he is a man isn't he? he has the right to do anything, it is the women who have to adhere to laws laid down by these very men, and no one from outside the community can question them, because if they do, then it immediately boils over to a communal tension where once again non-islamics are accused of picking on islam and trying to destroy their religion. What they do not realise is the fact that they are ones who have destroyed the image of their own religion which had originally begun as an attempt to preach brotherhood and peace. If people today correlate islam with terrorism, then it is not because the entire world has teamed up against the religion and held secret meetings where they have preached every one that islam is a terrorism supporting religion, but it is because each and every terror attack that has been carried out in this world, has been carried out by extreme minded islamics who are hell bent on destroying the non islamic part of the world by bombing airports and bringing down buildings.

And now, we have a new drama about extremist islamists terrorising the streets of Kolkata, just because the one woman who had the guts to speak against the oppression carried out against women in the name of religion, was living in India after her own country was intolerant enough to banish her from the country. The people who revolt against this sort of exercising of the freedom of speech, are always men who basically take their anger out on the innocent people, just because their male ego has been hurt by a woman, of all people writing books which bring out the reality and brutality behind what goes on in the name of following the religion of Islam.

it should have been stopped a long time ago, but then when we have a country that is full of politicians fuelling these communal tensions in order to secure more votes, we don't really have much hope do we. All we can hope for is for a thunderstorm to strike the extremists down and spare the radical islamists who know what islam really stands for, so that at least they could preach people about the original and peaceful motives of the religion, as opposed to blowing up buildings and airporrts which seems to be the order of the day at the moment.
